Course Objectives

ACCSC102 - Fulfilling the Standards of Accreditation: Academics

This course focuses on the ACCSC Standards of Accreditation which directly tie to the academic areas and program requirements for an accredited school. The course includes information on program development and design, educational policies and procedures, faculty, student services, and educational delivery methods.



Module 1: Academic Program Development

  • Design and develop an educational program and curriculum in accordance with ACCSC standards.
  • Evaluate, benchmark, and validate an educational program and curriculum as required by ACCSC standards.
  • Assess student performance and student learning using ACCSC standards as a framework for success.

Module 2: Academic Accountability

  • Identify what ACCSC considers to be appropriate measures of program academic “accountability.”
  • Quantify what ACCSC considers to be appropriate measures of program academic “accountability.”
  • Quantify ACCSC academic measurements with respect to different levels of compliance.

Module 3: Faculty and Educational Administration

  • Identify the appropriateness of your faculty based upon the required qualifications outlined in ACCSC’s standards.
  • Identify the appropriateness of educational administration as mandated by ACCSC’s standards.
  • Identify the qualification requirements for faculty with respect to different academic levels and program offerings (i.e., non-degree vs. degree programs).
  • Identify the qualification requirements for educational administration with respect to different academic levels and program offerings (i.e., non-degree vs. degree programs).
  • Identify the training and development requirements for your faculty and educational administration.
  • Identify the appropriateness of your school’s instructional materials and equipment.

Module 4: Internal Student Services

  • Identify the responsibilities and requirements of a comprehensive student service program.
  • Identify the responsibilities and requirements of learning resource services.
  • Identify the responsibilities and requirements of learning resource personnel.
  • Identify the required policies and procedures within student services.

Module 5: External Services

  • Identify the responsibilities and requirements of Program Advisory Committees.
  • Identify the responsibilities and requirements of consortiums, partnerships, and contractual arrangements.
  • Identify the responsibilities and requirements of externships.
  • Identify the responsibilities and requirements of student services with respect to “distance education.”
