Always follow policy when dealing with FERPA and if you have any questions, ask before giving any information.

Any student indentifiable information is confidential and is handled very seriously.

Treat it as serious as patient information and confidentiality. It is a student right.

I will use the policy in regards to implementation of this and support the victim as much as possible with the training that I have as a nurse as well as educator

A non bias investigation must occur. Specifically from the department of education:

OCR’s Enforcement of Title IX

OCR vigorously enforces Title IX to ensure that institutions that receive federal financial assistance from the Department comply with the law. OCR evaluates, investigates, and resolves complaints alleging sex discrimination. OCR also conducts proactive investigations, through directed investigations or compliance reviews, to examine potential systemic violations based on sources of information other than complaints.

THe title IX coordinator has a huge role in the enforcement and implementation of the title 9 scope which includes:

"A recipient institution that receives Department funds must operate its education program or activity in a nondiscriminatory manner free of discrimination based on sex, including sexual orientation and gender identity. Some key issue areas in which recipients have Title IX obligations are: recruitment, admissions, and counseling; financial assistance; athletics; sex-based harassment, which encompasses sexual assault and other forms of sexual violence; treatment of pregnant and parenting students; treatment of LGBTQI+ students; discipline; single-sex education; and employment. According to the Department of education Title IX and Sex Discrimination was designed to protect people from discrimination based on sex in education programs or activities that receive federal finacial assistance. It states that:  "No person in the United States shall, on the basis of sex, be excluded from participation in, be denied the benefits of, or be subjected to discrimination under any education program or activity receiving Federal financial assistance."  The scope is large but important. This course module has given me perspective on the admission process. The rules, note worthy language, policies and procedures that is used to maintain integrity while engaging prospective students. 

It’s true, many people, me included, tend to forget that FERPA not only relates to maintaining student records private. But it also gives students the right to access and request their educational records. Students may still view their records even if they have an overdue balance.
